What is Termius?
Termius, from Termius Corporation, is the most polished answer to "my hosts should follow me everywhere": real iOS and Android clients alongside macOS, Windows, and Linux, with hosts and keys synced through encrypted vaults and shared across teams. The desktop UX is genuinely modern — tabs, Workspaces, up to sixteen terminals in a split view, broadcast input — and AI-powered autocomplete ships on the free Starter plan, with plain-English command generation for account holders. Its AI Agent is in closed beta — confirmation-gated, per Termius's announcement — and Gloria, a separate experimental DevOps agent, is in limited preview.
What is Transit?
Transit is a network engineer's investigation workspace — a professional SSH and serial terminal and a full API client, with an investigation-only AI. You connect to the switches, routers, and firewalls you SSH into and the controllers you reach over API the way you always have — the AI investigates alongside you. It reads the same output you see, proposes read-only diagnostics, and explains what it finds. It can investigate your network; it can't change your gear.
Investigation-only is architecture, not a promise. The AI has exactly five abilities — list open sessions, read redacted scrollback, propose a command, propose a read-only API call (GET), ask you a question — and everything it proposes must pass a gate (aper-vendor permit listfor commands, GET-only for API calls) and your explicit click before it runs. Always both, never either. Device output is redacted before any model sees it, and the AI has no code path to your credentials. Transit AI Software Inc. completed aSOC 2 Type I examinationin July 2026, and the safety architecture ispatent pending.
The terminal and API client are a free download — multi-session tabs, split-screen tiling, serial console support, a local OS shell, built-in SFTP file transfer, syntax highlighting, quick copy/paste, session export, andone-click importof your existing SecureCRT, MTPuTTY, MobaXterm, ssh_config, or CSV inventory (and your Postman collections) — no account required. The AI is the subscription, when you want it.

Different centers of gravity
Termius orbits the server engineer in motion: laptop, tablet, phone, one synced vault. Transit orbits the network engineer at the bench or in the NOC: serial cables, per-vendor CLIs, change windows, and an AI whose defining feature is what it structurally cannot do. If you're choosing for a team that fixes Linux fleets from airports, choose Termius. If you're choosing for the people who get paged about BGP, Transit is built for exactly that seat.
Migrating is straightforward if your inventory lives anywhere standard: Transit'simport wizard reads an OpenSSH ssh_config or a CSV (only the host column is required). We didn't find a hosts-export feature in Termius's docs as of July 2026, so most switchers rebuild from their original ssh_config or inventory source. Credentials are never imported from any file — you enroll them once, into your OS keychain, where no sync service and no AI can reach them.
Frequently asked questions
Is Transit a replacement for Termius?
Only if your work is network gear from a desktop. If you administer servers from an iPad or phone and want your hosts synced everywhere, Termius is that product and Transit doesn't try to be — there are no Transit mobile apps. If your sessions end in 'show ip bgp summary' rather than 'systemctl restart', Transit is built for exactly that.
How do I migrate from Termius to Transit?
Via an OpenSSH ssh_config or a CSV — Transit's import wizard reads both (only the host column is required in a CSV). We didn't find a hosts-export feature in Termius's documentation as of July 2026, so most engineers rebuild from their original ssh_config or inventory source. Credentials are never imported from any file — you enroll them once into your OS keychain.
Termius has an AI agent too — what's the difference?
Termius's AI Agent is in closed beta and, per Termius, will not execute any command on your hosts without your confirmation — credit where due, that's a confirmation-first design. (Termius also previews Gloria, a separate experimental DevOps agent.) Transit's investigation agent is generally available and constrained by architecture rather than configuration: it can only propose commands, every proposal passes a default-deny per-vendor permit list AND your click, and device output is redacted before any model sees it.
Can Transit's AI change my devices?
No. The AI has exactly six abilities — list open sessions, read redacted scrollback, propose a command, propose a read-only API call (GET), query an open packet capture (analysis only — never wire payload), ask a question — and every proposed command must pass the permit list AND your explicit click. Config and write verbs are blocked. It investigates; it can't change your gear.
