Step-by-step guides to the most common Transit AI workflows. Each page is self-contained — you can land on it from a search result and have everything you need.

Setup

• Sign in — first-time sign-in to Transit AI Cloud.
• Create an auth profile — every backend type (keyring, SSH agent, 1Password, env var) explained.
• Find your user ID and organization ID — values to share with support or paste into a bug report.
• Import connections in bulk — migrate your saved sessions from SecureCRT, MTPuTTY, MobaXterm, an ssh_config, or a CSV; credentials are mapped separately, never imported.
• Sync your inventory from NetBox — fetch a reviewed New / Changed / Stale diff from your NetBox and apply it in one atomic import; Transit never writes to NetBox.

Sessions

• Add a device — put a host in your inventory.
• Connect to a device — three equivalent ways to open a session.
• Edit a device — change host, port, vendor, auth profile, terminal preferences.
• Reconnect a closed session — press Enter to revive a tab.
• Split & tile panes — split any tab into a resizable grid across SSH, console, and local shells; drag a tab in to tile it.
• Connect to a console cable — USB-to-serial for out-of-band access (tested cable).
• Export a session’s scrollback — save to disk with optional age encryption.
• Use the button bar — one-click macro buttons that send a command (with Enter, delays, or a clipboard paste) to the active session.
• Search a session’s scrollback — Cmd/Ctrl+F highlights every match with a live count, across the full 32K-line buffer.
• Log a session to a file — stream timestamped, redacted output to disk; right-click the tab to start.
• Capture and diff configs — snapshot a command’s output and diff two captures for config drift; opens from Cmd/Ctrl+K → “Compare captures / diff output…”.
• Open a local terminal — spawn a real local OS shell (zsh, bash, PowerShell, WSL, a REPL) as a tab; the AI can’t see it.
• Transfer files — a dual-pane SFTP browser over your existing inventory; drag, double-click, or queue transfers either direction.
• Capture packets — record from a local interface (no driver) or open a pcap; filter it, read the computed findings, and let the AI work the same evidence.

Per-device preferences

• Turn on syntax highlighting — colorize keywords and statuses.
• Turn on quick copy/paste — auto-copy on select, right-click and middle-click paste.
• Colour-code a device — a per-host accent stripe on the row, tab, and pane (“am I on prod?”).
• Tag a device — free-form labels (prod, core, dc3) that cut across the folder tree.

AI agent

• Use the AI agent — open the chat panel, ask a question, approve a command.
• Bring your own provider key — BYOK setup for Anthropic or OpenAI (free with every paid tier).

Teams

For organizations running Transit AI on a team plan.

• Buy a team plan — first-time admin signup with a mix of tiers.
• Invite a teammate — send invites by email; manage open invites.
• Accept a team invite — what the recipient sees when clicking the link.
• Change a member’s tier — move someone between Operator / Pro / Max safely.
• Add or remove team seats — adjust the per-tier seat counts on the subscription.
• Manage member overage — on by default per member; turn it off to stop spending past the tier allowance.
